This Week's Knitting

I've been working on the Lotus Blossom Shawl from a book of lace Shawls and Scarves. The pattern is termed 'advanced' and so far it is challenging, but not awful. Although, reading further on in the pattern, it will change to excruciating after i get 258 stitches on the needles. Yikes. I'm using Eden Silk from Universal Yarns, a combination wool/silk blend on #5 needles. I like the way it's shaping up. It will probably languish on the needles for a while, because I am going to start a mystery lace shawl KAL. The pattern is "mystic waters" so how could I pass that up? I'm learning to like lace, but I'm a little nervous about this one...it calls for a laceweight yarn of your choice. I chose Alpaca cloud in the "tide pool heather" colorway and it is so pretty...but so thin! I've never used anything so thin before. I will be using #3 needles, and ordered some Addi lace needles for it.
Just to show how thin , the light blue is alpaca I usually knit on #6 needles.. The alpaca cloud looks like thread in comparison!
I used my swift and ball winder to wind a hank, and it made quick work of it. I'm able to now use my kitchen counter for that task, the edge is perfect for attaching the winder. Good thing I have those accessories, I would never be able to wind that yarn by hand!

Yikes that is a lot of stitches. But the shawl is just beautiful.

I just wanted to stop by and say hello.

Have a great week,
Jennifer

Gorgeous shawl. I love that pink color. That alpaca is beautiful - love the color choice. Best of luck - it looks like lace is right up your alley.

Ooooh. Ahhhh. All I do is pet my lace yarn, but that's going to have to change. I have Christmas knitting to do. I love me some wee little yarns, and I'm actually looking forward to doing the lace thing with bigger needles.
