A Frogging We Will Go...

I chose to visit the Frog Pond today. I had already knitted and felted the body of my FFBE pal's bag but I wasn't pleased with the shaping. compared to the picture in the book, mine was really wonky and I thought I might have interpreted the pattern incorrectly. So, I had time, and enough yarn, to make another to see if it made up any differently. So, Last night I cast on and knit about 1/2 the bag. It was shaping exactly the same as the first one, and I didn't read the pattern wrong. So, rather than keep going and take a chance on having it be misshapen again, I frogged most of it. I got all the stitches back on the needles and I'm going to try again, this time adjusting the pattern to what I think will make this work out better in the end. Fingers crossed.

oh my!!! good luck... how mishapen is the first bag? could you dampen it and block it into a more acceptable shape? although surprises with the end result *are* part of the magic of felting!

What was the pattern you were knitting? I had trouble with my Sidekick, but that stretched quite a bit. I had a shrinking "accident" with my SFBE bag. With braided leather straps instead of the intended I-cord handles it all worked out. Since I'm not your pal...if you want to email a photo and ask if it's still ok to send, I'll be honest. I asked my mom and a non-knitting friend about my SFBE bag and they both thought it should go in the trash. I still had hope. In the end, they liked the finished bag, but lacked the vision when it lay in a pile of wet wool. I'll cross my fingers for you.
