This Week's Knitting

There has been knitting.
I've made good progress on a tank top: I'm at the neck and armhole shaping. It's really coming out nicely. I like the way the yarn has striped. It's Cotton Joy by Needful Yarns. When I took it to the LYS yesterday to show Deb, she was surprised how nice it striped. She said the sample they had up in the shop during summer didn't pattern as well, we decided it was due to my working this one in the round.
This is as far as I got on that because I needed to put it on a human to see if I made it the right length. I did. :-)

While waiting, I started to knit Amanda's Squatty Sidekick. I'm using SWS in Natural Pink and I like the color, a lot. I hope it felts well.

I've completed the body of the bag, but halted all my knitting to begin the Kitty Pi bed for Reggae. A promise is a promise.I cast on 9 stiches on my new #11 DPNs as the pattern said. Fine. Pattern conveniently doesn't say to distribute and join, but I knew to do that, and did. Or attempted to. I couldn't, for the life of me, get the damn stitches to join. I tried. For an hour. At least. I CAN do it, I know I can. But, it wasn't happening. Was it the #11 needles? I didn't know. Whatever it was, I was annoyed. I decided to go to the LYS and ask for help. I do love it that this shop is not stuffy at all and is willing to help. I wanted to visit there anyway, so I went first thing Saturday morning. Turns out my problem was my DPNs were too long to start the round. I wanted to use long ones because at one point there would be 72 stitches on the needles, and I hate them falling off my short ones. (why I so hate DPNs) After that fix, I was good to go on the Kitty Pi.
While I was there, I chose yarn for a bag for my FFBE pal, (already!) and picked up a few more things for other swaps. I did get something for me (of course!) but at the same time helped "the cause". My new set of Denise interchangeble needles! I'd been debating and the last time I was there heard a few people say they loved them, and this time, so did others. I was sold. The Boye and Bates circs I have are bugging me with the twisty cables. So far, I like the Denise set. Oh, and I found out the the "Yarn Harlot" will be at a book signing at a Border's about an hour from here in October. I think that calls for a road trip!

So here's where I am on the Kitty Pi. It's a going fast. I'll be done in no time.
I'm using the Noro that Mary sent me in the SFBE and it matches Reggae quite well, don't you think?

Reggae, after his escape to the neighbor's yard this morning, is under house arrest until we fix the gap under the neighbors new fence. Who knew a long fat cat could smoosh under a gap a few inches high? I panicked, and after calling for him to come back under he did. I was laying on the ground looking at him look at me, then walk away into the neighbors yard. And believe me, it must have been adrenaline, because due to the nature of my injuries, I *can't* kneel, let alone lay, on the ground nor get up consciously without considerable effort and pain. I don't remember how I did it, but I did. twice. I wish I always had that adrenaline. But, at least now I know the escape route he's been disappearing to.
I hope you all had a happy weekend. "til next time!

Maybe when he has the new bed, Reggae won't need to visit the neighbor's yard. I love the striping on the tank...I wonder how it will work out when you split for the front and back?

I want to make a pi bed for each of my boys. Fred is all about beds, and Mugsy is all about anything that smells like me...
