Weekend Washout?

Some years the weather for the 4th of July weekend is firey hot and sunny or oppresively hot and humid, some years, not so much. This would be one of the latter. It's more like Memorial day weather! Right now, it's 73 degrees and pouring rain. I feel for the folks who planned an outdoor party today. There is a front stalled over us, and tomorrow isn't looking any better. Yesterday rain held off here until around 10pm, but yeah...for the most part, it's been cloudy and rainy. This is the sky before the clouds started crying....

...probably for the merchants up at the beach and boardwalk who didn't make the green they hoped to on a holiday weekend. Shame, in this economy :-(

So, for some cheery color...here are my hydrangeas putting on quite the show for me this summer :-)

I hope you all had a fun 4th, if you celebrated. Nothing much here, plans were cancelled due to the weather, but I was able to get some knitting in, with more of that to be done still...there's still another weekend day left tomorrow!

We were fairly lucky this weekend. The rain held off for the fireworks on the 3rd and it held off long enough for us to eat outside on the 4th. But we were always watching the skies and they looked just like yours until late this evening when the clouds went away for about an hour and the skies were blue. It didn't last. And more rain through Tuesday. Oh well. What can you do? I took myself inside and made myself comfortable with my mp3 player with a good book loaded and some knitting.

Yes, the weather is in the high 70's here, too. Lots of clouds with occasional peeking sun.

Your hydrangeas are gorgeous!

Such blooming beauties. Do you play acid / base games with them to make them change colors?

Not a stellar weekend for weather - or for fireworks - was it?

Pretty flowers though!

We had rain from Friday through today, but I don't mind. We certainly needed it, and we had no away-from-home plans anyway.

Everything is bright and green, and the flowers are doing great!

I'm leaving for Orlando tomorrow morning; I expect we'll have storms every day, but that's Florida in the summer, and I'll be with my daughter and grandkids, so it's all good!

Sorry your 4th was so dreary! We actually had a great weekend - best 4th of July weather we've had in a long time! Sorry I haven't been to 'visit' in awhile - hope all is well with you!
