This Week's Knitting

It didn't snow last night, it isn't going to snow today. Rats. I said yesterday, it's never going to snow on the coast of Central NJ this winter. I am correct. (so far) So, while knitting today, I won't get to watch snow fall.
I started working on Lotus Blossom again. I got through 12 rows of the 18 row pattern repeat with hardly any issues. Yay me. It's about...I'll say 70% finished. Give or take. I'm trying to be a "fearless knitter" with this: when it gets to be too much, give it a rest and it will be better when I pick it up again.
I decided I needed to knit a scarf to go with the Delite Hat I knit for my local bff Cathy (Kathryn's Mom) (not to be confused with my Key West bff Kathy!) I figured out the lace edging on Delite to work on straight needles, added 2 border stitches on each side, cast on and kept knitting. It's an easy pattern to memorize. I'm sure this lace stitch is in a book somewhere, I don't know what it's called, but I'm proud of me for working it out. I am calling this the "Delite Inspired Scarf". It will need to be blocked a lot when it's all knitted, but so far it's looking quite nice. (yes, that's Reggae watching the birds have breakfast. I filled the feeders yesterday and Reggae is enjoying the show.)
This is progress from few evenings worth of knitting; hopefully I'll be done in a few days, and I can give the hat and scarf to Cathy. I'd like to knit myself a warm scarf and maybe a hat with the Malabrigo birthday yarn I got in Key West. Chan said it is really a dream to knit with, and I don't have any warm scarfs for myself so...I need one!
One of the requirements of the Hot Cocoa Swap was to knit (or crochet) a "Winter Blahs Buster Buddy" (BBB). I looked at A LOT of patterns and couldn't manage a few, didn't like a lot, so I put my thinking cap on and decided to create one of my own. I knit it up and put it together and felted it yesterday. I present to you the BBB "Rock Star". The left is pre-felt, the right is after felting. It needs to dry some more and get stuffed, but I think it turned out OK. I hope my pal likes it. It's silly, but hey, silliness helps to chase away the blahs, right?

There are a few blog contests happening, so I am going to surf a few and see what's up. For one, Miss Me is having her 1st Blogerversary contest. Go on over and post a comment, tell her I sent you. And speaking of Contests...I'm quite close to post #300, (how did that happen so fast?) so I will be having a contest here very soon.

I am sorry about the lack of snow, too. I keep telling myself that we get most of our good snowstorms in Feb. Hope springs eternal. I love the rock star buddy!!! I would love to make one for my niece. Would you share your pattern? I am not good at making things like that up. I am extremely grateful that there are creative folks to do that.

Oooh, I hope you're my pal! I love stars and starfish, but I don't think I said so in my questionnaire...

We're not getting much snow here either. Dang!! I love snow.

Your scarf looks great too. I hope the day will come when I can take stitches from one pattern and use them to create one of my own. I too want to knit fearlessly, which means I must seek out a colorworks class of some sort.

Can't wait to see what you do with the Malabrigo. I know I'm plotting what to do with the rest of mine, AND have more on order!
