Yarn Shopping and Back to the 50's for Lunch
I'd made plans with my knitster friend Barb to go to a LYS this past Wednesday evening that's going out of business at the end of this month. 50% off EVERYTHING. This LYS is jammed with yarn. I posted about it a few months ago, how the store just made me, nervous. It was unorganized. But, the yarn! wow. Anyway, a T-storm and power outages rescheduled our yarn expedition until today. Armed with cash and me with 1/2 a plan, off we went this morning. For a shop going out of business, there was still A LOT of stock left. Unfortunately, most of the things I needed to pick up for a friend were sold out already, or not carried. I was able to pick up a few things for stash-enhancement and some yarn for exchanges, but without a plan for other projects I just couldn't buy like crazy. But hey, it's not the end of the month, yet! :-) We spent a good 1 1/2 hours shopping, choosing, thinking. I came home with this. Could some of that be heading your way, secret pals?? :-) So much for "Knit From Your Stash", huh? I'm excited about my new knitting needles, #6, Laurel Hill made of palmwood. Can't wait to use them. I've only used metal and bamboo needles thus far.
After all that yarn shopping, it was lunch time. We decided on the Circus Drive-In. I've been there many times, but Barb never was, although I've never had car service, just inside or take-out. We decided on car service. This place is really cool. It's been in business for 53 years. The waitresses used to car-hop on roller skates. No more though. The food was as good as always. Check out this classic car, perfect for the Drive-in feeling! Felt like Happy Days. :-)
I wanted to go to What's Needling You in Toms River also, but summer traffic wasn't in my favor today. I'll get there this week, or Saturday at the latest. I know they carry things I need for the KVVS and DDOS exchanges, and also things that my friend needs.
So, since I've been home, I've just been hanging out on the deck and connected wirelessly. This is way cool. I'm liking this new laptop thing bosslady gave me.

Oh wow, looks like a fun place. I love those type of places to eat too, food is usually great! Too bad they don't bring back some of the old days :)
Sorry the LYS didn't go too well, but what you did pick up looks pretty!
That looks like a very fun day!! It's always sad when little shops go out of business, but it looks like you got some nice things!
palmwood needles for ms. palmtree... how fitting! looks like you scored some great things even without a plan.
I think I saw this Circus Drive-In on the Food Network. I'd love to visit a place like that. I'd have to plan well, because I don't let the kiddos eat in the car.
